Why do we have heartache?

What are we to gain?

If God can stop the ocean’s roar,

Why not stop my pain?

 

I choose to trust my Savior;

Submit to all His ways.

I hold my hand out to Him

And thank Him for my pain.

 

God can see the answers

When all I see is trial.

He never says it’s easy,

Only that it’s worthwhile.

 

And I choose to trust my Savior;

Wait bravely for relief.

I hold my hands out to the Lord

And thank Him for my grief.

 

The more I walk with Jesus,

The more I see His ways.

My problems are not a punishment,

They’re a way to give me strength.

 

So I choose to trust my Savior

Both now, and in future years.

I hold out my hands up to the heav’ns

And thank Him for my tears.

 

In the past, I have been grateful

For the joy, but not the pain.

I’m coming to see that He rescues me,

And turns my fear to faith.
